Used Cameras - Choose System
Every 35mm camera body, lens, or any other accessory that we sell represents a far better value than can be purchased anywhere else.
We have more invested the the CLA'ing of most of the items that we sell than many other vendors even sell ostensibly equivalent items for. Every camera body, lens and many accessories makes at least two passes through our 40+ year experienced photo-metrology facility. We almost always find conditions that need attention and no piece of equipment qualifies to leave without having all outstanding significant issues corrected. One negative of the care that we display in what we send to you is the necessitated delays. To ensure quality many items may take from one to three weeks prior to shipment and cannot be rushed...at any expense. Most items, however, will be shipped within a day or two of order placement. Camera Bodies: Every camera body that we sell has been reset to factory standard shutter speeds. The flash trip not only works but, on older models, the synchs are accurately set to the standards for the various flashbulbs for which it was designed. If it has an internal exposure meter, it has been set to original factory standards. Old mechanical SLR and Rangefinder bodies have dried up gummy lubricants replaced with compatible modern lubes. When you receive it, everything will not only work, but all will work up to the original factory standards to which it performed when it first left the factory when it was brand new.
Lenses:We do not just tighten up things like the focusing helicoid and adjust the diaphragm mechanism (not all of which can be adjusted to perfect symmetry), we remove most fine internal lens dust. Accumulated internal fine dust is a largely unrecognized major issue in used lenses. To understand how this issue arises, the reader needs only to understand that a lens/camera body system defines a closed volume with the lens acting as a piston as the lens is focussed. To maintain equalized pressures, air flows through the lens carrying fine dust particles, some of which deposit on internal lens surfaces. Over time the accumulation of built up dust manifests itself as an internal haze that scatters light, very much in a manner opposite to the effect of lens coatings or multi coatings. Long before it is visible to the untrained eye, this lowers effective contrast and transmissivity and the lens performance appears to be less sharp regardless of how it performed when it was new.
Finder/Meter HEADS As with "F" Nikon Photomic finder heads. We have more experience (40+ years) with these devices than any other facility in the world. We cannot fix them all but most of them can benefit from the kinds of adjustments that we do all the time. We commonly repair "jumpy" meters, sensitivity offsets and battery source changes (1.35 to 1.55 or vice-versa). AND, of course, we warranty the very excellent work that we do.
