35mm Contax SLR (Yashica/Contax) |
| The Contax SLR was revived in 1975 when Yashica created a new camera system and mount, the "C/Y" mount to be shared by its higher-end Contax bodies and lower-end brethren bearing the Yashica mark. This line of cameras birthed 15 models — in order — the RTS (1974), the 139Q (1979), the 137MD (1980), the RTSII (1982), the 137MA (1982), the 159MM (1984), the 167MT, the RTSIII (1990), the ST (1992), the S2 (1992), the S2b (1994), the RX (1994), the AX (1996), the Aria (1998), and the RXII, their last model made. Contax officially ended production of all then-produced models in 2005. Zeiss lenses for "C/Y" came in "AE" and "MM" versions. First introduced in 1984 with the 159MM, the MM lenses are newer, allowing for shutter priority modes. For the most part there is no optical difference between the two models, however sometimes the older model was German in origin. |
