Every CANON camera body that we sell has all been completely CLA'd by our 40+ year Canon experienced photo metrology lab, has absolutely perfect meter and shutter speed operation and will not "SQUEAL" !
Positively amazingly versatile and sturdy camera intended for the very serious high end amateur market during a time long gone. In a sense this was the last of a particular kind of breed for Canon. It was the last of the generations of extremely (some would say unnecessarily so) sturdy serious amateur cameras. Save for the omission of a winder/motor coupling this camera body is almost indistinguishable from a truly "professional" instrument. In operation the body feels both very solid and it has a very silky smooth sense as though crafted by a fine watch maker. This camera was true overkill for the market that it actually addressed. In 1976 when the much more highly plastic in every possible way AE-1 was introduced at a much more "plastic" price, The EF was devastated in what remained of its sales, effectively ending the era of very, very solid "popular" cameras for Canon.
Introduced in 1973 it was Canon's first offering incorporating the new Silicon Blue Cell increasing the sensory dynamic range addressed by over 5 stops at the low end. The camera body is completely mechanical (hence battery not necessary for these speeds) for shutter speeds 1/2 to 1/1000th second and electronically governed for the 1 second to 30 seconds range giving a continuous span from 1/1000th second to a half minute effectively more than matching the capabilities of the newly improved light sensing/measuring system.

Extremely nice condition but does show some handling and use but no hard use whatsoever. Excellent condition but shows some wear and use. Perfectly Excellent operating condition but cosmetics leave something to be desired. Usable but has mechanical, optical and cosmetic issues as indicated in individual descriptions Issues as indicated in individual descriptions Very significant conditions as indicated in individual descriptions. The lower end of this range is basically a paperweight that looks something like it might once have taken some pictures.
