Introduced in 1985 (circa 1985-89) the 159mm was Contax's introduction of its MM (Multi Mode) mount which allows the use of shutter priority and program capable MM type lenses. MM type lenses are distinguishable by the distinctive green color of their minimum f-stop and the base tab coupling to signal the camera body of the MM capability
The 159MM's top shutter speed is 1/4000th and it has a relatively high 1/250th X-synch. It is the first Contax to employ the high speed 1/4000th second shutter and to be program capable with three program modes (fast, slow and normal).
The body does take a data back and a motor winder W-7. Multiple exposures are enabled (as many as wanted) by actuating a lever about the film advance lever. Body automatically operates early in a film roll start at 1/100th only until exposure #1 is reached. The TTL center weighted meter (for flash as well as regular exposures) employs an advanced SPD type cell. The standard finder screen is a concentric horizontal split image and microprism array surrounded by a ground glass. Four others are available. (Probably very, very difficult to find now.)
