Introduced in 1982 the the RTS II was the marriage of the Porsche Design Team for physical camera body ergonomics and Yashica Corporation for advanced and elegant electronics. The shutter incorporated the precision of Quartz Crystal Timing for amazing (for that time) new total accuracy. The field-of-view in the viewfinder went to 97% from 92% for increased picture preview accuracy. The cloth focal plane shutter was replaced with a horizontal travel titanium focal plane shutter. Indefinite duration EV lock. The physical appearance of the the titanium foil shutter curtain strongly resembled that of Nikon's offerings sparking speculation Contax's shutter technology was on license from Nikon but, given Kyocera titanium technology history, the arrangement was in all probability the other way around.
