Hektor 73mm (7.3cm) f1.9
Introduced in 1931 (and continued through the war in very small numbers, 1946) this ground breaking revolutionary in low light capabilities lens was Leitz/Leica's fastest lens at its introduction. First available in all black paint with serial numbers scratched internally (as was the Leica practice at the time) with no rangefinder coupling (Hint: Leica bodies had no built in rangefinder way back when).
As a very early lens its embodiments were evolutionary and over its lifetime the following four named variations in appearance are the most significant:
Hekon: Black painted mount with no rangefinder coupling (often factory converted at a later date)
Hegrakup: Nickel plated focus grip and coupled rangefinder cam
Hegrachrome: as Hegrakup but focus ring is chrome plated
Hegra: as Hegrachrome but fuller chrome design variation as prevalent from 1935 on
During its 15 year lifetime only 7225 were produced:
1931 131
1932 1923
1933 1133
1934 616
