Introduced in 1981 as the European "Camera of The Year" the X-700 was arguably Minolta's most successful manual focus offering since was a marketing success for 18 years to come. Almost all produced were all black with the exception of a briefly produced chrome economy Japan home market version that lacked the AE Lock function
No wonder this economical engineering wonder was such a long pervasive marketing success; its myriad of extensive useful features and capabilities comprise:
1. Exposure Lock Button (except for the briefly produced economy Chrome Japanese Domestic model)
2. Mechanical/Electronic remote shutter release
3. Visual/Audible slow shutter speed warning when speeds under 1/60th are chosen
4. Complete selection of eight different interchangeable viewfinder screens
5. Coupling for 3 1/2 FPS and 2 FPS Motor/Winder Type G
6. Film Load Failure indicator
7. Proprietary hot shoe along with a PC connector
8. Depth of field preview button
9. Horizontal travel silk fabric curtain with traverse time permitting 1/60th X-Sync
10. Stepless automatic electronic control of aperture and shutter speed in program mode
11. Exposure offset adjustment for plus/minus two stops in half stop increments
12. OTF (off the film) TTL flash metering
13. Touch (not depress) meter/electronics activation shutter release button
14. Silicon PhotoDiode (SPD) TTL center-weighted EV 1-18 (ISO 100 f1.4) Metering
15. Audible(mutable)/Visual(flashing LED) self timer alert

New in box with warranty papers as it came from the dealer Indistinguishable from new but no box or no papers or both Very close to new condition with only subtle signs of use or handling. Extremely nice condition but does show some handling and use but no hard use whatsoever. Excellent condition but shows some wear and use. Perfectly Excellent operating condition but cosmetics leave something to be desired. Usable but has mechanical, optical and cosmetic issues as indicated in individual descriptions Issues as indicated in individual descriptions Very significant conditions as indicated in individual descriptions. The lower end of this range is basically a paperweight that looks something like it might once have taken some pictures.
