This particular body was owned by a pro at the very end of his career and looks to have never gone out on and assignment. According to his daughter, he always employed manual focus cameras professionally but he wanted to own Nikon's "PRO" camera after he retired. According to her, he liked to fiddle with it but he never took it out of his house. The lens mount has virtually no wear ans the body has only a couple of scant trivial marks on it as shown in the pictures. |

NIKON's LAST TRUE PROFESSIONAL FILM CAMERA BODY
Though the F6 is widely regarded as Nikon's ultimate professional film camera body offering; its penultimate offering, the F5 is arguably Nikon's very last film camera truly aimed at professionals. The F6 came at a time when the pros were switching over to digital and probably was conceived internally at Nikon Japan as a very profitable marketing vehicle aimed at photo-aficionados who have more financial resources than brains or needs. In our experience, most pros who need a high end professional film camera body invariably opt for the F5 citing the high price of the F6, the real non utility of its extensive manifold features, and the actual greater ruggedness of the F5.
Certainly the F6 has more bells and whistles and it is a serious camera body; but, it is not nearly as rugged or sealed against the elements as the F5. The F5 is Nikon's last film camera body designed with the intention that it be able to roll down a flight of steel or cement stairs and be able to take perfect executed pictures when it is picked at the bottom.
