Last and highest evolution of non AI mechanical Nikkormat/Nikomat/Nikon older larger series of sub Nikon F/F2 camera bodies. Similar to the later Nikorrmat/Nikomat FTN it had black plastic covers on both the self time, film advance levers and depth of field button. It has a single screw in type X-synch flash connection like the Nikon F Apollo and the F2, hence FT2 nomenclature tag. Also had a non proprietary "hot" flash shoe atop the pentaprism housing. Positive clutch/lock on the ASA setting mechanism. Viewfinder has combined microprism/split image focus aid. Exposure window on top of body has +/- markings for exposure aid. Had automatic M/X sync selection on shutter speed selection. (1/125 selected X automatically) FT2 precursor to serial number.
