The 105mm F4.0, first introduced November 1975, came successively in three highly similar versions:
Version 1 thru 3 look extremely similar and resemble both the very last version of the 55mm F3.5 AI/non AI as well as the early AIS embodiment of the F2.8 55mm AIS. Optically all three versions closely resemble the short mount 105mm F4.0 bellows lens from which they directly descend.
The focus ring is marked in both feet and meters for approximately 345 degrees of rotation and for the obtained reproduction ratios at various distances from 1:10 to 1:2 and down to 1:1 with the PN accessory in place.
The earliest version (version one) starts with SN 174011, and according to Braczko, is superceded (version two) at SN 186956 by a highly physically similar model with only the addition of a chrome turn screw to prevent creep in vertical applications. The report of that SN is suspect since a sample with SN 211284 and no chrome turn screw has existed in our inventory:

New in box with warranty papers as it came from the dealer Indistinguishable from new but no box or no papers or both Very close to new condition with only subtle signs of use or handling. Extremely nice condition but does show some handling and use but no hard use whatsoever. Excellent condition but shows some wear and use. Perfectly Excellent operating condition but cosmetics leave something to be desired.
