Gorgeous and in superb condition. This professional lens was generally a workhorse and very few survive in such a amazingly beautiful condition. Though not rare, many were produced, it is collectible as an early example and rarely found in such near perfect condition. |

Introduced in early 1966, this was Nikon's fastest "normal" lens for the "F".
All dimensions in engineering drawing in mm.
Version 1: Onset SN 184711 Earliest examples were "blue" coated and as time progressed an early type of NIC coatings were progressively incorporated on internal elements to advantage of lowering internal reflections and raising lens contrast. Early examples had SN "No." which was dropped later.
Version 2: Onset SN 250001 October 1972. Advent of "NIC" Nikon's multicoating. Final SN 300556 December 1974. Unlike other lenses in its line, this change, indicated by a "DOT C", was less of a drastic change change to the total lens behavior since the earlier formulation(s) already incorporated NIC type coatings
Version 3: April 1976 Onset SN 350011 New optical formula takes minimum focus distance to 1.7 ft. Physical appearance changes with new look RIFR (Rubber Insert Focus Ring)
Version 4: Onset SN 400001 1977. Nikon modified the aperture coupling ring for "AI"

New in box with warranty papers as it came from the dealer Indistinguishable from new but no box or no papers or both Very close to new condition with only subtle signs of use or handling. Extremely nice condition but does show some handling and use but no hard use whatsoever. Excellent condition but shows some wear and use. Perfectly Excellent operating condition but cosmetics leave something to be desired. Usable but has mechanical, optical and cosmetic issues as indicated in individual descriptions Issues as indicated in individual descriptions Very significant conditions as indicated in individual descriptions. The lower end of this range is basically a paperweight that looks something like it might once have taken some pictures.
