Specifications

Prior to the advent of the Photomic FTn finder the mounting of a new lens on the "F" body involved a tedious error prone operation. The ASA wheel had to be indexed against a mark designating the maximum f-stop of the lens informing the meter of the "normalized" baseline of its light input.

Introduced September 1968 (and continuing into 1974) Nikon introduced the Photomic FTN finder. The "FTn" remained largely constant over its life save for two physical variation, one trivial and one less so. Early finders in his series had a serial number engraved on the body bottom adjacent to the eyepiece. Later the serial number was incorporated "anodized" onto the screw mount internal nameplate.

The more trivial variation was he addition of an additional securing screw on the lower right section of the body cover that later disappeared.
