Nikon's year 2000 reissue of its 1950's vintage rangefinder body with the updated and finest 50mm(5cm) F1.4 ever made for its rangefinder bodies. The set was first offered with a chrome S3 body and all black lens October 2000 and with a black painted body and a black lens June 2002. The body reissue had precious few revisions (as true to the original S3 as practicable) and the lens is a tweaked (7/5) formula "Olympic" with updated advanced NIC anti-reflective coatings.
To our knowledge, Nikon never publicly released any lens diagrams of the much celebrated original 7/5 50mm F1.4 formulation. However there is information to suggest that the lens formula bore a striking resemblance to the to the 7/6 5.8cm F1.4 "F" lens shown below :

The darker line in what would appear to be the third group is actually an un-cemented pair split only by a very small distance.
In the 7/5 50mm F1.4 RNFDR the third group is a cemented pair that is not split (denoted by the darker line) into two separate elements as in the 7/6 5.8cm "F" formulation. The author acknowledges and thanks Erwin Puts for the fruitful communications that have led to this information.
Do please see link for more on this.
As much as this set is a celebration of Nikon's commercial and technical successes over the decades dating from its rangefinder triumphs; this celebration was far from a success since, though each set cost Nikon in excess of $6000 to produce; Nikon realized well less than that and sales in the after market dropped to less than half of the issue price.
