Second and updated version of Pentax's new "K" (bayonet) mount body standard. Like the precedent K2 and the Spotmatic F and ES's, it was designed for full aperture metering. Unlike the original K2, it was designed to couple with a motor drive with which the first sales offerings were sold.
Employs advanced (for its time) SPD (Silicon Photo Diode) which has a huge dynamic range rapid response and recovery linear system.
The Pentax K2DMD (Asahi's high end offering) and the K1000 (Asahi's low end offering) were both introduced in 1976. The K2/K2 DMD was the top-of-the-line model that was aimed at serious amateurs as well as the professional market. It had aperture priority automation capability, would take a 2 FPS motor drive.
The most obvious addition to the K2DMD was motor drive capability. However, the manual lists the following as additional features of the K2DMD:
1. Aperture read-out
2. Exposure compensation warning
3. Built-in eyepiece blind
4. Low battery warning
5. Photo memory lock
6. Extended photo memory
7. Split-microprism focusing screen
8. Interchangeable backs
Viewfinder displays shutter speed, aperture and exposure information.

New in box with warranty papers as it came from the dealer Indistinguishable from new but no box or no papers or both Very close to new condition with only subtle signs of use or handling. Extremely nice condition but does show some handling and use but no hard use whatsoever. Excellent condition but shows some wear and use. Perfectly Excellent operating condition but cosmetics leave something to be desired. Usable but has mechanical, optical and cosmetic issues as indicated in individual descriptions Issues as indicated in individual descriptions Very significant conditions as indicated in individual descriptions. The lower end of this range is basically a paperweight that looks something like it might once have taken some pictures.
